Your Professional Disc Golf Association membership drives Women’s Disc Golf!
Nordic Female Open has benefitted from PDGA Europe Competition Program to boost this great women-oriented event!
What started as a small Norwegian tournament in 2023, with 27 women competing, has grown to, not only a lot more competitors, but it has become a community: May 2025’s tournament had 63 women competing, in 9 different divisions, from 4 different countries ( https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/86730 ), a clinic and a panel debate to learn from the more experienced women, and talk about what to do to get more women involved.
This positive mood encouraged more women wanted to join the association, bringing a lot of good ideas to help women find joy in this wonderful sport, both in local clubs, local tournaments, and bigger tournaments both in and outside their country. In addition, responsibilities in different areas (Project Leader, Tournament Director, Assistant Tournament Director, etc.) rotate so that everyone gains experience in all areas and prepares for even greater challenges.
The PDGA Europe Competition Grant Program (always available at https://www.pdga.com/europe/competition-grant) has collaborated to offer accommodations and food, an amazing player package, good prizes and extra communication to make the women players want to come back year after year.
In fact, Nordic Female Open is reaching outside Norway, both looking to expand their knowledge by learning from other countries who have made a lot of progress already, and by sharing our knowledge with others with the same goals.
